Summer registration started at 7a this morning. I set my alarm for 6:45a so I’d have time to stumble to the bathroom, brush my teeth and all that jazz before the mad rush to sign up for classes started. I started trying to login at 6:50a. Who knows, maybe the server clock is faster than my clock, right?
No such luck. I get a server error. So, I keep trying every few minutes — and continue to get errors. I reboot my computer, clear my cache and all kinds of fun stuff. Still no love. I check the help desk website, but they don’t have any announcements posted. Finally, I try to call the school. “I’m sorry, our offices don’t open until 8a.” Great. I resolve to wait, and try to sort through some old email to kill time.
I keep trying to access the registration page, but it’s still down. Finally, 8a rolls around and I call the school just to be greeted by, “I’m sorry, nobody is available to answer your call now. Please hold.”
This message repeats itself every 30 seconds for 45 mins.
Long story short? I finally get to register at 8:50a when the website comes back up. But, at least I’m registered!

Life Span Growth/Development – Starts May 12 and ends May 26
Summer II:
Anatomy & Physiology II – Starts July 11 and ends Aug 17
After this summer, I will only need to take Microbiology to finish my support classes for the nursing program. Woo!
New Forum

I finally found a forum that I like and want to use for my blog. I wanted a solution that would integrate with WordPress. I tried bbPress for awhile, but it is still too new. This is a great, simple solution!
In order to comment, all you need to do is register an account. It also has the added bonus of saving time when posting comments on entries, because once you log in, you won’t have to enter your user name and password every time.
So, stop by and say hello! Let me know what you think!
PS – If you don’t see the email within a few minutes, then check your spam folder. It’s probably there

For Valentine’s Day, I gave SK tickets to the Saturday evening show of Cavalia. If you are not familiar with the show, this is how their website describes it:

The show was fantastic! To be honest, I have extremely high expectations going into the show (because I’d seen several expert horse trainers during my stint as a goat farmer/horse handler) and expected to be disappointed. But, wow-oh-wow, did the show blow me away. The sets were incredible, the music was wonderful and the horses were simply magnificent. This week was actually supposed to be the end of the run here, but it was in such high demand that it was held over for two more weeks. I highly recommend it!
Sunday we met some friends for lunch at Johnny Carinos and then headed to spend some time with SK’s parents. The weather predicted thunderstorms, but the day turned out to be gorgeous. With such great weather, we took the boat out to soak up some sunshine. I’ll never understand the overwhelming calm that envelops me when I am near water, but I am thankful for it.
This weekend was amazing, and again I am reminded of how truly blessed I am in my life.

The Heat Is On
Before applying to the nursing program at the local college, they require everyone to attend an information session. I finally got mine out of the way yesterday, and I have no idea why it is mandatory. Pretty much everything they discussed is published on their website. It was just a waste of two hours of my life!
I did learn one thing, though. Last semester, 275 qualified people applied to the program (qualified meaning they had completed all prereqs, passed the NET and so on). Of the 275 applicants, 115 had a 4.0 GPA on the prereqs. The problem? The school only accepts 100 applicants. (This is why I’m so worried about my GPA this semester) When there is a tie on the prereq GPA, they first look at the number of support classes completed and then the GPA on those classes if there is still a tie.
I was actually aware of all of that. So what did I learn? That the last person who got in had 9 hours of support classes. I am planning to take Anatomy and Physiology II during the Summer II session, and that will put me at 10 support hours completed. I hope it’s enough. Developmental Psychology and Microbiology are the last two support classes I could take. I could try to kill myself and take 7 hours during a summer session, thereby practically ensuring I get into the program but … eh, I just don’t know.
I heard from several people that nursing programs aren’t that competitive. Ha! I’d like to know where they got that information

When we went to Ruidoso, we decided to take a few movies with us to watch while curled up next to the fire. Since this was a getaway, we didn’t want to take too much stuff. Having to choose which movies to take on our trip got me to thinking about my favorite movies of all time.

Yes, I’ve been home from Ruidoso, NM for almost a week and I’m just now blogging. So shoot me.
Our trip was wonderful, with plenty of time to relax and enjoy Mother Nature. We found this gorgeous place off a lonely gravel road. Standing there amidst the trees with mountains all around us, it was easy to pretend we were the only people on Earth.
Before we left for Spring Break, my anatomy and physiology instructor offered to email us our lab grades if we’d send her an email asking for them. In my email to her, I said, “If I were a betting woman, I’d say 81.” Her reply? “It’s a good thing you’re not a betting woman. You made a 94!” Wahoo! A 94! There were only two A’s and I made one of them. I cannot tell you what a relief it was to find out that I’d made an A on my midterm. I think I drove SK and Jac crazy, because I’d randomly turn to them and say, “94!”
I made a 100 on my history test, and things are moving along nicely in my other classes. I’m a little worried about my psychology grade right now because I’m riding that fine line between an A and a B. I hope I can pull it up. We have another test in A&P lecture on Monday, and I’m trying to study for that now.
Other than that, life is progressing along. I feel like I’m so out of touch right now with everyone. How are you?
Knee Bone’s Connected To…
Guess who made a 100 on her anatomy and physiology lecture test last week?!
Wahoo! It gives me a little peace of mind going into my lab midterm on Wednesday. I’ve been studying for it, and I think I will be ready in time. If I ever say ‘glabella’ or ‘posterior inferior iliac spine’ after Wednesday, I’ll be really surprised.
Since I also have a math test, a history test and psych homework this week, it’s keeping me busy. If you see me online, spank my hand and tell me to hit the books!
My family is coming for a visit this week, and then SK and I are going to Ruidoso, NM for the week of Spring Break. With everything together, things have been hectic and we are ready for a vacation!
If I’m a good girl, I shouldn’t be online for the next two weeks or so, and lemme tell ya, I’m looking forward to it!
